投稿標題(英): Bacteremia score of cellulitis in hospitalized adults

投稿摘要: Objective:To develop a simple score(bacteremia score)that assist clinician in deciding who should receive blood culture and to determine the role of blood culture in the management of cellulitis in hospitalized adults.Methods: A retrospective cohort study of 351 hospitalized adults was conducted to compare the clinical and microbiological data between the positive and negative blood culture group. A logistic regression model was performed to adjust for possible confounders, and the “Bacteremia score” was obtained.Result:The “Bacteremia score” (round) for a cut-off value of 2.5 (sensitivity 90.9%, specificity 65.7%) was as follows: age≧65, +1; non-low extremities involved, +1.5; liver cirrhosis, +2; and sepsis status, +2.5. The isolation of true bacteremia in 33 cases lead to adjustment of antibiotic agents in 22 cases (66.7%).Conclusion:Our study provided a strong support for the role of blood culture in the management of cellulitis and an easy-to use bacteremia score.
