投稿摘要: Early detection and treatment are crucial for preventing the spread of TB infection. To amplify the number of MTBC organisms in a sample using the BACTEC MGIT 960 system and to detect positive samples rapidly.
Positive MGIT tubes should be observed visually. A ZN smear is prepared to determine the presence/absence of acid-fast bacilli in the tube. A blood agar plate (BAP) is inoculated with the tube broth to determine the presence/absence of contaminants. The prevalence of positive cultures and contamination results was calculated.
Of the 468 preliminary contamination results, 34 positive cultures were found after re-incubate 14 more days. The positive rate was increased from 46.82% to 50.68% after replacing the traditional procedure with the MGIT Procedure Manual.
Based on our results, we therefore recommend that the MGIT Procedure Manual not only could increasing positive rate of positive MGIT tubes but also decreasing the frequency of mixed cultures.
