投稿標題(英): Treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in a nursing home in East Taiwan

投稿摘要: Background
According to the Taiwan CDC, the number of TB cases from nursing homes account for 7% of TB cases in Taiwan. It is informed us that the implementation of TB control measures in people-accumulation institution is extremely important.
Method
The target participants were 127 residents and staff members.Their chest X-ray image review and Interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) blood sampling were performed. The IGRA-positive testers were given a rapid molecular test for TB.
Result
35 IGRA tests (27.5%) showed positive, and 24 participants were underwent sputum exam. One of the cultured result was reported as a TB case. The rest of IGRA-positive participants, 27 participants were referred for LTBI evaluation, and 4 participants were assigned to receive LTBI treatment.
Conclusion
After implement the project, we successfully reduced the source of TB infection . It can also improve the alertness and related knowledge of TB in their family and caregiver.
