投稿標題(英): Promoting the appropriateness of antibiotic prescription and decreasing the antibiotic prescription amount by establishing a user-friendly antimicrobial informative system

投稿摘要: Background: Antibiotic usage has great impact on outcome and resistance. Materials: We conducted a 30-month study (stage I: Jan 2011 - May 2012, no protocol; and II: Jun 2012 - Jun 2013, with an user-friendly system). Antibiotic usage was expressed as DDD/1,000 p’t-day. Results: Antibiotic consumption decreased significantly after introducing stewardship protocol (2,498 vs. 2,411 DDD/1,000 p’t-day, p = 0.01), mostly due to decrease in parenteral usage (710 vs. 605, p ＜0.001). Reduction was seen in parenteral penicillins, cephalosporins, and quinolones (p = 0.001 - 0.01). The rate of appropriate antibiotic prescription ranged from 80.5% in Jun 2012 to 90.1% in Jun 2013. Conclusion: Antibiotic stewardship program can raise the appropriateness and decrease amount of antibiotic prescription.
