投稿標題(英): Applying Infection Control Intervention to Reduce Upper Respiratory Infection Outbreaks in Acute psychiatric wards

投稿摘要: Purpose:
There were 4 cases upper respiratory tract infection outbreak occurred in acute ward on June to September 2010. This incident promotes the infection control group to develop "health care-associated infection outbreak of the monitoring and treatment," and included in infection control manual work, and reduce infections and protect patient safety for the quality of care.
Materials and Methods:
Staff was lack of awareness, did not immediately notified, fails to really do partition isolation, and other environmental disinfection were the cause and factor for the infection outbreak. infection control implementation in hospital-wide since December, 2010.Red, yellow and green reminder symbol were used in different grade infection level (red: refers to cluster units, yellow: means that the cluster has an incubation period of no new cases, the green light: refers to sporadic cases), and to patients, visitors, staff, facilities, etc. according to different reminder symbol light to execute flu interventions.
Result and Discussion
Totally 6 cases used red reminder in acute ward in 2011,3 cases in 2012, and just 1 case in August 2013.The decreasing factors of infection outbreak were:1) Head nurse on duty to monitor infectious events every shift, trying to block the early detection of infection with abnormal events; 2) Staffs have enhanced the cognitive disposition when face the immediate isolation of patients infected, indirectly reduce the risk of infection; 3) Implementing partition care and environmental cleaning and disinfection. Hospital infection control intervention to block the use of intervention outbreaks since the execution day event starting and ending so far completed two years and eight months, to curb the effectiveness of upper respiratory tract infection occurred excellence, thereby to share the experience with other psychiatric hospital the same attributes.
