投稿標題(英): Experience sharing of management of suspected scabies outbreak among healthcare workers in a local community hospital

投稿摘要: A suspected scabies outbreak among the ICU staffs was reported on Dec.13, 2013. We immediately intervened to manage the incident. A nurse was diagnosed with eczema in Dec.2012, skin rashes lasted but she ignored it. Symptoms appeared one after another in her colleagues, outbreak was reported. Interventions: 1. Let the stuff off and be treated, until no more new rashes. 2. Listing of contacts (1 Dr, 7 Nr, 2 NP and 1 assistant) and arranged them to dermatologist. 3. Personal laundry cleaning and environmental disinfection. 4. Stop admitting new p’t from Feb.12~16, 2013. 5. Tracing 11 contacts, one received prophylaxis, and the others were ruled out being infected. We track for 1 month and no new victim. Conclusion: 1. Reporting immediately. 2. Executing skin assessment when P’t from long-term care facilities. 3. Educating of “scabies care” for staffs and new recruits. 4. Discard clothing into the infectious bins, yet we found the bins were uncapped, thus we notified HN to be improved.
