投稿標題(英): Outbreak of urinary tract infections associated with ureteroscope

投稿摘要: Outbreaks related to ureteroscope have been rarely reported. From August to September 2011, an outbreak of 9 patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa urinary tract infection postoperatively was reported. All patients received ureteroscope examination prior to their infections. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis genotyping analysis revealed that 7 of 9 patients infected with the homogenous genotype of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. All 7 patients were examined with the same ureteroscope operatively. Four environmental samples presented different genotypes. Therefore, inadequate cleaning and disinfection technique were suspected to be the cause of the outbreak. In the meantime, perhaps new standards of procedure should be developed to test and review the design of ureteroscope with respect to disinfection before these instruments are used in patients.
